Wand of Dowsing + Annihilation during combat
My roommates and I were playing the other night, and we ran into a questionable scenario.
We are playing with the original set, first two base expansions, the Cthulhu expansion, and Marvel Expansion (lots of cards, but that's how we like it). Players: 3 -- Me, Karen, Gemma Scenario: It is Karen's turn, she is level 8, and an Orc. She kicks up the door to a level 1 monster. Her attack bonus totals around 30, and Gemma and I cannot add more to combat, nor force her to remove Orc as race, meaning Karen will get two levels and win. I play Polymorph Potion from my hand to end the combat. Karen then plays Wand of Dowsing from her hand, claiming that she will retrieve the card Annihilation from the discards to annihilate my polymorph potion, giving her the victory. Gemma and I argue that because Polymorph Potion was played BEFORE WoD, this series of actions is absurd and aren't legal due to PP taking effect and ending the combat as soon as I played it, regardless of the 2.6 second rule. Argument ensues. Who is right here? |

I agree with Brf's (and MunchkinMan's) reasoning. If you already had Annihilation in your hand, you could use it to cancel the Pollymorph Potion, but you can't play something else in order to retrieve it.
