Default [GAME] 2018 Superpowered Alphabetical Brainstorm, WW2 Edition.

It's been a while since the last iteration of this game. Here and Here are two of the more recent ones.

The premise is simple, make up a super hero or villain whose name starts with the next letter of the alphabet, don't get too worried if someone beats you to the punch and grabs a letter you where hoping for just put your idea up too.

The theme/setting this time is World War 2, who knows this may even make a good history for the next version of this game. Bonus points for incorporating other people's entries and providing three powers (or applications of a single power) in each entry.

A is for Atomkrieger

An allied operation named "Cape" sought to sabotage the German atomic bomb project. The group responsible for what is now known as the "Osnabrück incident" included British spies, an American physicist as well as Canadian and French support personnel. They struck when key people and equipment were stationed at Osnabrück in what is reputed to be the most haunted place in Germany. The operation didn't go off flawlessly, a chaotic firefight ensued. Something happened during this battle that caused a hand full of people to manifest superhuman abilities.
One of these people was the elderly german staff physician for the atomic bomb project, he discovered that his biology now produced a compound that when introduced to another person might cause that person to develop superhuman abilities fueled by exposure to radioactive material. These people were designated Atomkrieger.

Powers
- Enhanced physical capabilities, somewhat variable.
- a percentage developed the ability to transform radiation into another form of energy and direct the resulting new energy. Electricity and heat are by far the most common types.
- Equipped with the most advanced technology available, much of which is bespoke.

Weaknesses
- Some Atomkrieger dislike the presence of lead.
- Not all are immune to the effects of the radiation that fuels their abilities.
- Atomkrieger creation techniques are still largely unknown science, the results are unpredictable.

B is for Bombardier

One of the Canadian support troops for Operation Cape, one Lt. John McDonough, was exposed to a mutagenic substance during the closing firefight. He later developed the ability to fly and to drop explosive energy "bombs" on targets below him. Royal Canadian Air Force researchers are working on developing a portable bombsight that Bombardier can carry on missions.

Powers

- Flight
- Projection of "balls" of explosive force, which release their energy on contact with any physical object

Weaknesses

- Needs an oxygen supply when flying at high speed and/or high altitude

- Has no special ability of aim with his "bombs" - he can hurl them like grenades, or drop them like bombs, but they fly/fall in the same fashion as grenades as well (hence the desire for a portable bombsight)

C is for Captain Jones

A British intelligence agent, who was probably not a captain and almost certainly not named Jones. Normally of unassuming appearanace, he could become invisible to human and animal sight - though not to other senses, and not to cameras - for short periods of time. He could see clearly in the dark - not infrared, but full color vision if there was even a scrap of light - and his one item of "super" equipment was a button that unscrewed to reveal a bit of radium paint. He was a lightning calculator and had full eidetic memory; he spoke many languages with colloquial ease.

D is for Daedalus

Emigrated to the British Isles from Sicily, Daedalus is a genius inventor and tinkerer that's been a boon to the British war effort, inventing everything from radar to proximity fuses to cryptography-cracking machines. Oddly, though, he refuses to consider working on RAF aircraft. The Spitfire is really all R. J. Mitchell's, and while the British are doing quite well with their jet engine program, they probably won't catch the Germans without Daedalus' help.

E is for Éirinn go Brách

Known only by her nom de guerre, Éirinn (as she is familiarly known by her comrades) is as old as the century. She came of age in the Easter Rising and fought through the Revolution, taking out Black and Tan armoured cars singlehandedly. If there's one thing Éirinn hates more than the British, though, it's Fascists. She went to Spain with the Connolly Column and fought in the International Brigades. When the Republicans lost she hightailed it north and wound up in Poland, where she fights alongside the Resistance today.

Éirinn go Brách's origins are unknown*. She claims to be an avatar of the spirit of Irish liberty. She can become effectively invisible in any natural surroundings and call up an unnatural fog to shield her allies from view. Her most visually impressive power, however, is her battle rage: She grows to half again her normal size, with brutal, distorted features, tears her clothes off, and tears small armoured vehicles to pieces. While berzerk, she is invulnerable to smallarms fire and has prodigious strength, but afterwards she is weak as a kitten and requires lengthy rest and feeding to recuperate.

*If the setting supports it, she is actually a daughter of An Dagda and a human woman, born to make Ireland an independent nation. She is fully aware of this, but it isn't something that would go over well with her predominantly Catholic comrades in arms

The setting gets made up as we go along.

E is also for The Engineer

Shundor Edwards keen intellect helped him to manage the difficulties caused by his mixed Hindu/English parentage. His drive to succeed took him all the way to Oxford university where he learnt to be a brilliant mining engineer and geologist. When war broke out he worked his way into a commission in the royal engineers. His luck soon changed though and he found himself a prisoner in a Japanese work camp. It was here that his captors tested the fruits of a new branch of science based on the Atomkrieger research that was sent from Germany. The initial results were disappointing many of the test subjects perished and the rest failed to display any unusual abilities.

Shundor sought to escape the camp by tunneling into a hidden space at the quarry where they were working and wait for dark then risk the jungle. However he was betrayed, his captors collapsed the tunnel entrance to serve as an example to the other prisoners.

During the agonizing days he spent in the clostrophobic tunnel his powers manifested. He emerged encased in a huge humanoid shell composed of the loose earth and gravel of the quarry. Ignoring small arms fire he waded into his captors and led the prisoners to freedom.

Powers
- Can shape earth and loose gravel, making tunnels and foxholes is an easy task.
- Can wrap himself in a thick humanoid shaped layer of earth, this continually regenerates while he is contact with the earth.
- While in his his armoured form he is remarkably strong.

Weaknesses
- is slightly clostrophobic as a result of his ordeal and prefers to leave his head and neck uncovered when encased in earth.
- weak and malnourished
- Can neither breath nor see through dirt. So his armoured form has gaps.

(not actually mine, I was discussing the thread with my boyfriend)

F is for Flygirl

Marine Cherie, a French-Canadian physical engineer, was sent to the U.S. to work on the Manhattan project. Largely shuffled aside by her colleagues, she builds a nuclear powered jetpack. But in the process she accidentally irradiates herself, becoming a human reactor. Taking her powers as licence for a more active role in the war, she flew her pack over to Europe to start kicking some Nazi ass. Naturally charismatic and pretty cute, she ends up being a favorite of Allied war journalists and propagandists, who dub her Flygirl. Fanciful depictions of Flygirl (often in various states of undress) are increasingly popular nose art on USAF and RAF planes.

She can fly with her jetpack, she can release toxic radiation from her body to defeat her foes and even absorb some harmful gases safely into herself to protect her allies. Her jetpack serves a second purpose: to release her energy buildup before it explodes out of her unintentionally.

G is for (the) Green Knight.

One of Morgan Le Fay's Chromatic Knights, whether he plays the hero or the villain depends player characters persuade Morgan not to throw her lot in with the Nazis who promise her the crown of Britain if she will join them. Actually a sapient tree with the power to shapeshift into a manlike form, his powers include great strength, regeneration of injuries, and the ability to communicate with and control other plants.
