What should I add next to my collection?

I am looking to buy a physical Gurps book a month to my collection, I am preparing to run a fantasy setting of my own design in a few months (pls see the world of solem thread). So am looking to pick up books to support that campaign.

Please recommend physical books that would help a fantasy campaign and please say why. Also please only recommend stuff I can still easily purchase, like stuff on Gurps demand.

What is Dragons like? I do want Dragons to be a part of my setting.

I like Dragons. It has a lot of information about various kinds of dragons. It kind of straddles the line between 3rd and 4th edition and some of the 4th ed templates may need reworking, but it's good.

Depending on what style of game you like to run, Mysteries and Mass Combat might be useful to you.

Dragons is the only jointly Classic/4e book and as the outline on GURPSwiki shows there is a lot of material. That and later material can be used to render the D&D version of Tiamat in GURPS.

Even without her deity power she is ridiculous point wise in GURPS and with them she is a 2224+ point nightmare.

I do want them in the campaign but as super powerful individual dragons with deep histories, not dungeons and dragons monster of the week.

I think the LOTR version of dragons is the way to go here to make them special and to make the pc's wince when they are mentioned.

I don't want many 5 to 7 max. I might link them to colors but not sure yet. I do want them unique to each other. Will Dragons as a book help me achieve that?

Then you might not want to give them stats at all. Just have them be plot devices - they devastate all they meet and can only be killed by a McGuffin or by combat with another dragon or a deity. That's how dragons were handled in the Dragonlance adventure series and I think that's really how dragons should be handled.

I have four Character's books on my table, looking at a 5th if I find one for cheap. I'll let you know if I ever feel like I have too many.
