Default Santa + Mate Bad Stuff

Hi,

I’ve been playing for many years now but came across a situation I’ve yet to see.

My dad kicked down the door and got Santa to which I played a Mate card on top of it.

We didn’t end up actually reaching this conclusion but if he had not been able to escape from both Santas would he have had to slay TWO monsters by himself before he would be able to get treasure?

The card states that you don’t get to receive treasure until the person slays a monster so there’s a fairly valid argument for that meaning the same monster or two separate monsters.

If the card had specified 1 monster then it would have led me to assume to be the latter but the “a” makes it a bit confusing.

Thanks for the help!

That is such a killer Bad Stuff that I'm going to say they run concurrently, not consecutively, and so killing one monster is the trigger for BOTH of them to expire. However, this is not the final answer, just the way I want to rule it; I'll kick it around here and try to get a final ruling soon.
