Which we did, thankfully. Turns out you can rid of one of these things by drenching your sinuses with salt water four times a day for a year :P
I "cured" mine by quitting the job I was at that had toxic dust and metal flakes floating everywhere.

It's returned every time I've worked in an environment with heavy airborne contaminants (also one year that airborne allergens were extremely bad). Otherwise, I've been fine.

Dust easily could have been/could be a factor; sloshing water through my head certainly is good for rinsing out irritants.

It's not fun, and tangentially related to the original topic it makes me feel like a sheep getting a dip and a drench, but it's a brief discomfort in exchange for great relief.

I don't need to do it 4x a day any more. It's usually more "Once a day if I remember, and two or three if I get a cold or something."

That at least is an important possible difference for human patients. We may actually believe that unpleasant treatment really is "for our own good".

I lost two shirts and quite a bit of blood when I last got my cats into carriers just to move to a new place. (I was an idiot for putting on a new one after my Timmay tore the first one to shreds. Shia, his brother, wouldn't possibly freak out as much, right?) Putting on flea meds involves two people and rigid grips.
