[QUOTE=nick_coffin;1942654][*]Or you can use the “Import” button to import character data from GURPS Character Sheet (http://gurpscharactersheet.com), version 4 or higher. GCS needs to be installed on your computer along with GMControlApp for this to work. The first time you import, GMControlApp will ask you to select the location of your GCS installation.

Why don't you make an import button to import characters from GURPS Character Assistant?

At a guess, because GCS is open-source, written in Java (as is GMControlApp), and fairly interoperable; while GCA is none of those.

Nick (or anyone else), is GMControlApp still being supported? I can't get it to register the installation location of GCS.

Sorry, but I haven't looked at or supported GMControlApp for a while now.

BTW, to answer the previous question, I didn't support GCA because I don't own a PC, only a Mac. And GCS is free, as Celti pointed out.

I've spent a few weeks rewriting my GURPS Thaumatology: Ritual Path Magic spell creator app. The link for this is:

http://www.hypermediocrity.us/rpm_app/

The app has been redesigned and has the following features:

* Implements the complete, default rules for creating new RPM spells.
* Responsive design that should look good and work on any screen size, even small phones.
* Allows export of the spell text as Markdown text.

The site is currently in beta, please leave me any comments or bugs here in the forum.

This replaces the old link which was:

http://gurps-monsterhunters.appspot.com

The old site will be retired soon.

Hi Nick

The link appears broken.

Try it again. I had to rebuild my website recently and I hadn't gotten around to deploying the RPM app until today.

https://www.hypermediocrity.us/rpm_app

This should work well for both mobile and PC.

One of the goals of the app is to produce RPM rituals as close to the standard format as possible. Here's an example of the app, as compared to the same ritual in the Thaumatology: RPM pdf:

RPM pdf:

Quote:
Legs of the Kangaroo

Spell Effects: Greater Strengthen Body + Lesser Strengthen Body ¥2.
Inherent Modifiers: Altered Trait, Basic Move + Altered Trait, Super Jump + Bestows a Bonus, Jumping.
Greater Effects: 1 (¥3).

The subject of this spell can make prodigious running leaps! He has +1 to Move for all purposes, and his jumping distances are doubled – after factoring in the Move bonus. Any rolls the GM requires to jump, avoid falling after a jump, etc., are at +2. The subject can be the caster or anyone the caster touches. The effects last for one hour.

Typical Casting: Greater Strengthen Body (3) + Lesser Strengthen Body (3) + Lesser Strengthen Body (3) + Altered Trait, Basic Move+1 (5) + Altered Trait, Super Jump 1 (10) + Bestows a Bonus, +2 to Jumping Rolls (2) + Duration, 1 hour (3) + Subject Weight, 300 lbs. (3). 96 energy (32×3).
My app:
Quote:

Spell Effects: Greater Strengthen Body + Lesser Strengthen Body ×2.
Inherent Modifiers: Altered Trait, Basic Move+1 + Altered Trait, Super Jump + Bestows a Bonus, Jumping rolls.
Greater Effects: 1 (×3).

And here's a screen shot of the editor: https://www.hypermediocrity.us/rpm_app/screen-shot.png

GURPS Stella
Stellar Systems Generator for GURPS Space

Two languages: english and portuguese. Program selects language automatically.

Generator of space map full of stellar systems for GURPS Space. Algorithm used is GURPS Space for GURPS 3rd edition, but you can use with 4th edition.

It creates a map of 30 x 30 parsecs using GURPS Space tables. Includes subtitles with keys for stars meaning. Includes coordinates.

Very simple. Text-based map. Program runs in command line.

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL:

1. Download Python 3 from:
https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/

If you use Linux it's generally installed by default in many distros.

2. Download GURPS-Stella.py.
https://gist.github.com/Nerun/105cb7...f68c31006d.zip

3. Run with Python that you have previously installed. On Windows command prompt or Linux terminal:
Code:
py GURPS-Stella.py
Be sure of running it with Python 3+ not Python 2.x. In Debian:
Code:
python3 GURPS-Stella.py

I'd love to try it out, but where do you download the zip file to? Where Python installed? Do we need to unzip it? I downloaded it and inferred that it needs to be in my username directory (probably erroneously) then ran the code in #3 in Command Prompt and it spit out:

Code:
SyntaxError: encoding problem: 1252

Download zip to anywhere you wish.

Python installer knows what to do. Use the installer and it installs python in the right way.

Surely.

Yeah, it can happens. Open GURPS-Stella.py, and change "cp1252" in the first line to "UTF-8". Or readownload the zip, i have updated it to UTF-8. Please, try again.

This:
Code:
# -*- coding: cp1252 -*-
Should be:
Code:
# -*- coding: UTF-8 -*-
