Default They think they're better than you

In many fantasy settings, there is often a race that thinks they, as a race, are better than everyone else. I usually hear this being an elf thing, but I can't think of a setting other than Elder Scrolls where this is true. Problem is, I don't know what trait exemplifies this in GURPS. It's not quite Intolerance or Selfish. Odious Racial Habit or Racial Reputation cover part of it, that being how others react to them. But I don't know how to build this for a race.

Has anyone done this before? Any pointers? Thank you ahead of time.

At least if that isnīt true, shouldnīt it rate as Overconfidence ?

I'm not entirely certain it would be on the level of Overconfidence, but maybe a Delusion. I'm not sure it would be more than a quirk, though.

It could be:

Reputation: Obnoxious Snobs

Obnoxious Racial Habit: Condescends to everyone.

Delusion: I am better than you

Intolerance: All you lesser species

It works like a quirk level OPH at best, or an actual OPH (constantly reminds people that elves are the best). Intolerance can result, and has been shown in some settings.
Other settings where Elves think they're (or are) the best:
Middle Earth
Dragonlance
Starjammer
Death Gate (Especially Elven Star)
Dragaera (although they call themselves human, and humans "easterners")
Warhammer

For the most part, I'd rate it as quirk-level intolerance. Depending on the severity and flavor you want, any of the other disadvantages Michael Cule mentioned can also be reduced to quirk level. Or, maybe the whole race has the full disadvantage. Again, it depends upon the flavor you want.

Basic Set (163) defines Chauvinistic as a -1 point Quirk-level Intolerance, so I'd agree that the answer lies somewhere on the Intolerance spectrum. That it results from a feeling of superiority is decorative coloration.

I think another side of the equation is how much this rubs the other races up the wrong way. If the snob-race is so unpleasant in how they express this that it should result in a negative reaction modifier from all non-snob races then it would be more than a quirk in my opinion.

I would work out how much of a percentage reduction that garnered (Characters suggests 'non-elves' is a 2/3 multiplier), so 'snobby elf' (-1 Reputation with non-elves) would be -3 points by my reckoning.

This would go onto the racial template and 'nice' members of the race might need to buy some kind of mitigating advantage like Charisma to offset it if they were nicer than the average elf.

Chauvinist is what I would start with and add things like OPH, Overconfidence, etc for more extreme cases.

Chauvinistic for most races, Odious Racial Habit if it's a major problem.
