What exactly is your wizard build that stops the hero who wishes a 3 on their to hit roll with their broadsword and then a 12 on the damage roll?

It's show up insubstantial to work day.

ST 15 DX 8(11) IQ 9 Crossbow Missile Weapons 3, aNd LeSsEr wIsHes... does the same thing to your character before your character gets in range, but aims for the head and doesn't bother to use a wish on the damage roll.

No, I saw that ability of Lesser Wish when I read it the first time, and immediately saw I would never allow some of its abilities, including the ability to just dictate your exact roll, because that's just asking for a game where every noble has to worry about being sniped from hundreds of yards away, etc etc etc.

Oh NO!

I guess the next assailant will need to use their Lesser Wish to cast Remove Thrown Spell on you from 25 hexes away, then the archers can pick you off.

Of course, if they can do that, they may as well use Control Person from a distance and compel you to use your lesser wishes for our side...

The sufficiently powerful wizard shall have self powered Reverse Missiles, Iron Flesh, Spell Shield, and Mage Sight enchantments. Hence the stealthy barbarian who invokes the demon Crom to grant him vengeance with a pair of lesser wishes and a broadsword.

The broadsword should be one of your lightning swords to fry those items...

Why would you fry the items (for sale) after you've chopped the wizard in half?

Hmm, perhaps this is best survival strat for powerful wizards, requires simply:
  • Permanent Fresh Air
  • Permanent Stalwart
  • Meal
  • Summon Demon

Step 1. Defeat the demon and have him drop you somewhere in a random ocean on Cidri. Even better, a random ocean on a planet other than Cidri.

Step 2. Live on the ocean floor in safety.

Permanent Fresh Air? Maybe that explains those bubbles in the middle of the lake...
