Default What can go on the field?

I'm a bit confused about a certain concept. I was wondering if all cards can be placed on the field but not necessarily activated? If not what can be?

There are so many threads that answer this, a quick search will turn up a few that have come up in just the last few weeks.

Here is a quick answer and an official ruling by MunchkinMan

I read that post before. So you are saying only items can be on the table? There's a card called Really Impressive Title. It has no item value meaning it's not an item? But isn't it a card that you have to put on the table to use.

I'm also asking if those one shot cards can also be placed on the table. Sorry, I have tried searching but I find that this isn't really well explained.

Quote from the rule book:

Other Treasures
Other Treasure cards are “specials” (like “Go Up A Level”).
You may play these at any time, unless the card itself says otherwise.
Follow the card’s instructions, then discard it, unless it
has a persistent bonus like an Item.

Cards like the "Really Impressive Title" are not items and are not carried. They are just in play giving you a bonus or a special ability. The rule I quote above is what those types of cards fall under.

Since the "Really Impressive Title" does not tell you to discard it after you have it in play, you keep it in front of you for a permanent bonus. And the rule above also implies that you can play this at any time, which I never noticed before because I always played these types of cards on my turn outside of any combat.

I hope this helps you.

According to the Munchkin rules, you may have one Class, one Race, one Big Item and any number of small Items in play. The rules also go on to say that one-shot Items may be played to any combat (or when appropriate) from the table (i.e., in play or from the hand), which enforces that, since these are Items, they may be put in play just like any other Item.

Going just based on the original set: Really Impressive Title and other cards (like Hireling) are special cards and can be played to the table, even though they are not Items, and are usually documented on the card if necessary, but the rules also account for this.

Relevant rules quotes:

Quote:
In Play: These are the cards on the table in front of you, showing your Race and Class (if any) and the Items you are carrying. Continuing Curses and some other cards also stay on the table after you play them.
Quote:
An item card in your hand does not count until you play it; at that point, it is “carried.” You may carry any number of small items, but only one Big one. (Any item not designated Big is considered Small.)
Quote:
Any one-shot item can be played during any combat, whether you have it in your hand or on the table. (Some one-shot items, such as the Wishing Ring, may also be used outside of combat.)
Quote:
Other Treasure cards are “specials” (like “Go Up A Level”). You may play these at any time, unless the card itself says otherwise. Follow the card’s instructions, then discard it, unless it has a persistent bonus like an Item.
