Why not? Infinity just numbers them in order of discovery. Since a world in a released product will likely be used in somebody's campaign before worlds in not yet released publications are, it's actually a fairly realistic way of assigning such numbers, certainly moreso than arbitrarily assigning them without regard to existing canon. Remember there is a canon number of worlds known, the more sample worlds get high numbers, the less space left for the GM. Not that he can't increase the number of known worlds, but these are just as canonical as the timeline numbers right?

Yes, but it's a point of versimilitude that sometimes Infinity discovers worlds that are not particularly interesting for rpg campaigns.

If the first number in each family was always the one with the most rpg potential it'd start to look suspicious.

Depending how you count, with just the canon lines from IW there's only 10 "unknown" lines on Q3 or Q5.

That's about right. I do wish Infinite Worlds had anticipated that there would be a flood of Pyramid articles, e-books, etc. and had upped the numbers by about 50 on each quantum. It would just make things a little easier for writers, GMs, etc.

Of course, you can always refer to a timeline as "recently discovered," which means it can be treated as "in addition to the timelines listed in Infinite Worlds."
