Default POD books

What is the probability of POD books being produced again? I prefer hard copy books over PDFs.

SJ Games have said for some years that they want to do POD printing, but have not to date found an economic solution to doing it themselves. There are POD companies, such as Lulu, that apparently can do a good job of turning a PDF into hardcopy, and when you wear it out, you'll still have the PDF to get another one printed.

Do you mean "hard copy" (i.e., paper) or "hard cover"?

Because Discworld is coming out ONLY in "hard copy/hard cover" format, for instance.

To be clear, this is a decision made at the executive level (Steve Jackson, Phil Reed, etc.), not any lower. I only say that to stave off people asking Kromm, Steven Marsh, and myself this question (which happens frequently).

... If only the Internet had a tradition for dealing with questions that are frequently asked.

We do not have current plans to offer in-house POD. The space we had set aside for future POD development has been converted to offices. Not saying it will never happen, but it's less likely now than it was a year ago.
