Re: What do you want in a Transhuman Space game (as a player)?
Lack of human empathy creating situations whereby people die for merely annoying you seems pretty much the definition of sociopath. I don't think that fits with how you normally come off. So please clarify how I misread your posts in this thread.

What we have here is a fundamental disagreement on the foundations of ethics. It is possible to discuss those, but extremely difficult, and I don't think it can be done in this kind of medium. But also, in the last analysis, all that can be said about many such disagreements is "I recognize that your position is different from mine." [Addendum: Besides, if I called you a fascist, it wouldn't necessarily discredit your position; it might merely show that something I considered fascistic was logically or ethically valid. You cannot refute an argument by anything you say about the person making it. The attempt to do so is a fallacy.]

To get back on topic, lets put a different spin on the original question. What is an absolute requirement for you to play in a Transhuman Space game?

Permission to play transhuman characters (Bioroids, Infomorphs etc.). I see the whole setting as pointless without the party members being able to experience it firsthand.

Wouldn't experiencing the setting first hand be playing in it? |

Re: What do you want in a Transhuman Space game (as a player)?
I experience swimming firsthand through my body by going to the ocean and swimming in it, not by observing other people swimming or reading their accounts of swimming. Likewise, a character seeing transhumans all around him/her/it is not experiencing transhumanism firsthand.

But if you say "That doesn't count. He has to be an infomorph or a badly designed sex slave." that would be unacceptably limiting.

Also, why is it that the first design you imagine for a bioroid is a sex-purposed one, and a badly designed one at that? |

If I ever run another THS game I'll probably keep things restricted to humans and possibly parahumans.
