Cheat and fire arms.
Character has the three handed sword, and plays a cheat card on it to be able to use it. Then the player gets and plays the fire arms card, which gives a bonus of +3 for each empty hand. Does the three handed sword now count as taking up zero hands, so the player gets an additional +6, or does something else happen?

If the Three-handed sword is being used with a Cheat card then his hands are empty. So yes, he gets the full +6 bonus for Fire Arms.

I've found that doing a Google search of the forums works much better than the built-in search. You just have to add this to the end of your search terms:
