Bruno, your entire post was a masterpiece. If you're ever looking for high-intensity, low-pay work, any K-12 science department would be lucky to have you. This post perfectly exhibits your rare ability to combine technical precision with clear, accessible language and helpful examples.

In terms of gaming, I love the idea of lava shoes. Maybe a tribe of fire giants makes them, enchanted to keep you upright and to not stick. Alternately, I can imagine a fantasy species of fire lizards (bipedal or not) whose feet are naturally designed to splay out and exude an oil that resists the lava's viscosity.

Fire and Brimstone is a free source book on Lava that might be useful to you. Not a GURPS product but could suggest a few things.

I did see that on e23, but I wasn't sure whether to grab a copy or not. Thanks for the heads' up.

The Science Department wants a specimen...a live specimen, just to make it clear for the Combat Ops...
