Default Adventure Time Level 20 Lich King

No one can help and no one can add cards to effect either side. Does "Illusion" count as effecting a side? In theory, it would just replace the Lich King with a monster from your hand instead of effecting it. Thoughts? Otherwise, would it just be an "instant win and no one can stop it" combat?

Illusion absolutely would count as affecting the combat.

Thanks for clearing that up. Am I unable to play any card on him? Or could I play a wandering monster?

No cards at all until the combat is over.

What about the fact that the Lich King is undead? Can I add other undead monsters to it?

No cards, at all, for any reason.

I understand the ruling is no cards at all for any reason, but does that mean cards affecting the combat? Or would I be able to play cards that target the player directly such as curses to make the player lose items or levels? Of course that would still kind of affect the combat by changing the player's combat strength, but what's the ruling on it?

The simplest way to put it:

Curses (and die rolls) take effect when played, and the only response must cancel or otherwise affect the card/action (or die roll), otherwise you must resolve the action before anything else can be played.

Therefore: A curse that forces you to discard can only have a curse cancelling effect played against it before it goes off. Die rolls for Bad Stuff can only be affected by cards that deal with the die roll itself or avoiding the Bad Stuff, otherwise it triggers, and so on.

So once you played the Curse, the other player must discard his hand unless he could cancel the Curse.

It means no cards, at all, for any reason. There are no qualifying conditions to that statement.

The card actually says. "[Mod note: Please do not quote card text. Thank you.]"

My family has always taken the word, "Other players" as nobody but the player fighting the Lich can play cards to affect the outcome. It's not referencing ALL players...

Game on!!!
