New subject, the time to the second shot might be longer than the time to reload. Firing a .50 BMG from a 12 inch barrel is going to produce an _enormous_ muzzle flash. You might not be able to aim well until the spots disappear from in front of your eyes. An experienced shooter might cope better with the (possibly non-temporary) deafness. I believe both HT and Tactical Shooting discuss this sort of thing but perhaps not at this level of stupidity. Perhaps the OP could tell his player that on an IQ-based Guns roll he knows how bad the problems are or even knows simply not to do this sort of thing.

Re: Weapon Assistance (4e)
Ok but effective range tends to be viewed as a combination of the gun and the user, as well as other factors that effect the ability to hit the thing you are shooting at.

But yes one imagines that if you clamp it to a bench or in some other way counteract the issues of firing this gun for effect it's effective range might indeed go up. Of course if we're now increasing our effective range by clamping the gun to a bench before firing it at our target that will have its own effect on being effective in a wide range of shooting contexts. however that said Quote:

Re: Weapon Assistance (4e)
The effective range of a Glock is most definitely not 160 yards, yet the GURPS range for it is 160/1800. The way that GURPS handles firearm ranges (relying on low Acc to limit effectiveness at longer ranges for e.g. pistols) you simply cannot directly copy the "effective range" listed for a firearm on some website or something. Doug's ballistics spreadsheet is the best way to go.
That said, this handgun is functionally useless. Why not a Desert Eagle .50, or a .454 Casull or something, if the player wants a ridiculously powerful handgun? Hell, there are revolvers that shoot .45-70! That's a cartridge used in buffalo rifles. See the BFR. (I suspect that F is not really an abbreviation for "finest".) And you get more than one shot...
