I know, I mostly linked that for the pictures of butted links and the sections that had proper citation. ;) The part I find dubious is the insistance that it's "ceremonial" armor--you see a lot of Japanese armor designated as being ceremonial when it really isn't.

EDIT: Of course, you also still see a lot of people who think that the Japanese couldn't into metal armor at all, too. XD I actually had a long discussion with one member of my group that no, Japanese armor was never actually made of wood.

When you do tel them who gave you that "I would do it this way" comment. Lend a bit more weigh to it :)

It would have to be more expensive than regular butted mail but not as expensive as riveted mail.

Regular butted mail is -0.6 CF...would -0.4 be a good amount?

I'd go with -0.2CF. If you can make riveted mail you wouldn't bother with the Japanese stuff.

Sounds good for gear worn by low-mid ranked samurai buke. Thanks!

Incidentally, I'd almost daresay kusari intended to be worn by ashigaru (being basically munitions armor) might be treated as straight butted mail with no modifier.
