Using dance to get the (not necessarily entirely positive) attention of someone socially attached to your dance partner has happened a few times in my campaigns. Usually, it's either that person's parent or romantic interest who notices the scene and reacts, and who is the real target. The main face character in my secret-agents campaign (Anabel) has a long tradition of initiating social contacts that way, though in her case it's lads used as ladders.

Regarding my first comment, part of me wants to run the sort of campaign where knowing your tango from your pasodoble, or your pasodoble from your flamenco (dance), is important. Even within tango, knowing tango from vals from milonga can get confusing.
