I will not be involved in any attempts to cast a binding spell on Kromm. I like living :/

Yes, another problem with the Tetravarate is that only one out of four members even knows that he's a member.

All told, the Tetravarate might not have quite as much influence as We made it sound earlier....

The Tetravarate Has Spoken.
Wait, what? Agree with me on what?

Case in point.... :)

It's all a bit hazy now, but I think I agreed with you that the Deflect spell is an artifact of PD from 3rd Edition, and shouldn't have made it into 4e Magic. Assuming that's your opinion.

Guys, please – arguing over what's the best authority of last resort for rules problems isn't productive. Stick to the Deflect spell here.

How do penetrations (for needing repair spell and such) work for the ring of protection?

How many penetrations can it absorb? Does it count as a penetration if the body is hit, or only if the ring itself is hit?

Any penetration counts.

Suppose Bob casts Deflect 2 (for the full 500 energy) on a DR 4 gauntlet

This provides DB 2 over his entire body

A shot hits his DR 2 leather boot for 4 damage, penetrates the boot, does that count as penetration for the deflect spell purpose?

What about a shot that does 10 damage but bounces off his DR 12 breastplate?

Or a shot that hits somewhere with no armor?

Also, does the number of penetrations to damage the spell get based off of the gauntlet itself, or say the average amount of armor worn on the body?

Any time the DB gets penetrated counts, only in the gauntlet does it have to penetrate DR 4, everywhere else it gets penetrated even 1 point of damage disrupts the enchantment, if someone pokes him 20 times in the chest, never penetrating armor, the enchantment still leaves.
YMMV

Only the enchanted item matters.

The enchantment doesn't care if you have DR 12 armor or are running around naked, the number of penetrations is based on the enchanted item.
