The text says on p.4:
Quote:
Would an activation roll be needed if a person entered an Area Effect burning attack? |

Re: [Enhancements] Question on Aura of Power
Because by default Aura pulses at the beginning of each turn, and that's when it "blesses" everyone. For an offensive Aura of Power, you would need to roll the Will vs HT contest, as it's a malediction.

Once someone has been blessed then further blessings just reset the duration so normally you would not bother to reroll. This assumes your rolls are going to succeed on average though. |

Re: [Enhancements] Question on Aura of Power
But why do you need to roll separately to affect someone when they enter an aura that you've already rolled to establish?

Using either a beneficial or harmful affliction, damage, whatever your rolling to affect so they get a resistance roll or other defense. |

Re: [Enhancements] Question on Aura of Power
Auras of Power are one area that I wish you could just have a 'treat all skill rolls as if they were a 10' or something enhancement. Kinda like the RAW 'no die roll required', but more limited (and allowing it to deal with abilities that care about margin of success).

If I have a power that creates a firestorm, and I roll successfully to activate it, I don't have to roll again to burn people who enter the area. |

Re: [Enhancements] Question on Aura of Power
What I think you're missing is that the meta-enhancement Aura of Power includes the limitation Requires Will Roll (-5%). In other words, by definition, it requires this extra Will roll.
So, first you roll against Will to establish the Aura, because the Requires Will Roll limitation says you have to. Then you roll against Will when your friends enter the Aura, because that's how beneficial Maledictions work. If that really bugs you, for whatever reason, then just raise the value of Aura of Power by another 5% and BAM! No more initial Will roll required to establish the Aura. Does that clarify things?

Re: [Enhancements] Question on Aura of Power
Okay, I see now. I missed the Malediction adding another Will roll.
But now I have another question -- what function is Melee Attack doing in the build, and how does it work with Malediction in addition to Area Effect? |
