Whats the point of charity?
When would you play charity? and why? Is it optional? can you just discard your cards down to 5 if you don't want to charity?

Re: Whats the point of charity?
Charity forces you to play your cards rather than hoarding them in your hand and it is not optional.
You can't voluntarily discard cards. You must follow the rules for Charity. If, at the end of your turn, you have more cards than your hand limit (typically 5), you must give your excess cards to the player/s with the lowest Level. You only discard these excess cards if you are one of the players with the lowest Level. |

Re: Whats the point of charity?
Charity is just one of those mechanics that are geared towards game balance, so that the player(s) who are farthest behind don't get completely hosed (e.g. if they don't draw a lot of equipment or monsters or too many race or class cards). The cards gained through charity don't tend to be extremely useful (usually overpowered monsters or extraneous race or class cards) unless the the giving player intentionally passes something good, but it's better than nothing. The extra cards may at least be useful as discard fodder or for looking for trouble if another player agrees to help.
