Re: What books do you use?
It all depends on the campaign; a cyberpunk or space opera game is gonna use different splat books than a fantasy game.
Typically, I use the following regardless of campaign: - Basic Set - Martial Arts - Action 2: Exploits - Power-Ups 2: Perks - Power-Ups 3: Talents - Power-Ups 6: Quirks - Power-Ups 7: Wildcard Skills I also tend to hand out Combat Cards to players so they have something to scan for combat options. In my Star Wars and Space Opera games, I used the following additions: - Ultra-Tech - Psionic Powers - Spaceships 1-7 (typically just 1 and 7, though) - Space (for alien and world design options) In my fantasy games, I add the following: - Low-Tech - Magic - Thaumatology - Ritual Path Magic - Sorcery - Low-Tech Companions 1-3 - Low-Tech Instant Armor - Dungeon Fantasy 1: Adventurers - Dungeon Fantasy 4: Sages - Dungeon Fantasy 5: Allies - Dungeon Fantasy 7: Clerics - Dungeon Fantasy 9: Summoners - Fantasy-Tech 2: Weapons of Fantasy (new addition to the list) - Martial Arts: Yrth Fighting Styles - Magic: Plant Spells - Magic: Death Spells - Powers: Divine Favor In my upcoming super-hero game: - High-Tech - Action 1: Heroes - Action 3: Furious Fists - Action 4: Specialists - Casey & Andy (time-travel rules) - Fantasy-Tech 1: The Edge of Reality - Fantasy-Tech 2: Weapons of Fantasy - Gun-Fu - High-Tech: Adventure Guns - High-Tech: Pulp Guns 1 - High-Tech: Pulp Guns 2 - Low-Tech - Low-Tech Companion 2: Weapons and Warriors - Low-Tech Instant Armor - Monster Hunters 4: Sidekicks - Powers - Powers: Divine Favor - Powers: Enhanced Senses - Powers: The Weird - Power-Ups 1: Imbuements - Power-Ups 4: Enhancement - Power-Ups 8: Limitations - Psionic Powers - Psi-Tech - Social Engineering: Pulling Rank - Sorcery: Protection and Warning Spells - Supers - Thaumatology - Thaumatology: Chinese Elemental Powers - Thaumatology: Ritual Path Magic - Thaumatology: Sorcery - Ultra-Tech In the occasional Monster Hunting game, I tend to use: - Monster Hunters 1: Heroes - Load-Outs: Monster Hunters - High-Tech - Low-Tech - Low-Tech Companion 2 - and any book that seems like it'd have stats for bad guys or gear

For my Facets campaign, I use
Basic Set Thaumatology Thaumatology: Ritual Path Magic G:Magic High Tech Powers (little use thus far) I also use the 3e setting books, converted to 4e, as needed: Cabal (of course) Voodoo Faeries Spirits Shapeshifters Undead

Re: What books do you use?
Didn't 4e GURPS Horror include a lot of the stuff you converted from 3e? Seems like it might be pretty useful, unless you've already done all the converting that you think you'll need.

Re: What books do you use?
I personally tend to use a LOT of different supplements in most campaigns.
In my current high power fantasy campaign I use at least: Characters, campaigns, supers, about half the DF series, powers, chinese elemental powers, divine favor, two two sorcery books, psis, psionic powers, martial arts, High tech, Low tech+companions, social engineering pulling rank, action 2 exploits, most powerups and a ton of pyramid articles. I basically do not use the whole thing from any of the above, but pull out the pieces that fit the campaign. |
