Default Internal Fragmentation damage?

How do I determine how many pieces of shrapnel hit someone when the explosion is internal?

I think the logical answer is 'most of them, excluding those exiting the original projectile's orifice'.

Yes. I know that. But the code in brackets is the damage.

How do I figure out how many pieces of shrapnel there are? Did I miss that?

As far as I can tell, there's simply no forumula to determine exact numbers of shrapnel - it's simply "everyone within 5 * dice of fragmentation damage yards is vulnerable".
What I would do is assume that someone with internal fragmentation damage simply took 3 times the normal frag damage - this keeps it in line with the rules for explosions.

Thank you.

That...still makes the Webley .442 SAPLE bullet in High Tech ridiculously lethal.

And the shrapnel is effective against Unliving targets!

Aren't SAPLE rounds fired from aircraft?

IIRC the problem with late 19th century explosive bullets was that most of the time they did NOT explode in animal (or human) targets.

Fuses of the era were fussy enough without them being a.) miniaturized and b.) having to detonate in that variable-density mass that is a living target.

So if it does go off, ooh-nasty. But I would make it fail to go off most of the time.
