Wandering monster cards
Ok today in the office we were playing munchkin. we have two co-workers who do not do anything but help eachother out. One of the employees was to fight a monster at level 18. she was only 16 but of course she got help from the other person. so someone drops a wandering monster but the monster that he put out says only you can fight it and no one else can help you.
there was a big argument over the fact that the other person had to leave the fight because the new monster prevented her from helping. they kept going on and on about it being seperate. so what ended up happening is the other person got to stay in the fight and thus the battle was won. so what is the rule behind that. should the other person be allowed to stay or should she have been forced out of the combat? |

Re: Wandering monster cards
A quote from the rules regarding fighting multiple monsters:
"Fighting Multiple Monsters Some cards (notably Wandering Monster) allow your rivals to send other monsters to join the fight. You must defeat their combined combat strengths. Any special abilities, such as fighting with your Level only, apply to the entire fight. If you have the right cards, you can eliminate one monster from the combat and fight the other(s) normally, but you cannot choose to fight one and run from the other(s). If you eliminate one with a card or your Race or Class power, but then run from the other(s), you don’t get any Treasure!" This applies to text on a monster that says "no one may help you" or "you must fight alone". There is no mechanic in the game for fighting multiple monsters separately. Not only that, but the above rule clearly states that each of the monsters special abilities apply to the entire fight. Therefore, in that fight, you must fight both monsters alone until a card or ability is played to eliminate the monster that has this special ability. |

Re: Wandering monster cards
That is correct. It changes the rules of how the combat may be fought.
Wandering monsters are not only used to combine the combat levels and strengths of the monsters, but to also add their special abilities in a strategic manner. Some of the very low level monsters have some unique special abilities that can be used in combination with other monsters to make them unstoppable. |

It sounds like you're talking about the Gazebo. It even has a FAQ entry:
