Re: TFT Map Maker
Not currently implemented, but I can take a look and see if it's possible. The annotations are actual text characters rather than lines and polygons, but text rotation should be feasible. I have a patched version coming out shortly that addresses a bug I discovered that sometimes occurs, when the first map you open has annotations and they don't display. This is due to the browser not pre-loading the font, which the patch addresses.
This one should work: http://shadekeep.com/shamat/shamat.html Basically if you go to the Shadekeep home page (http://shadekeep.com) you should be able to navigate to any app directly from there. If you're working with the downloaded version of Shamat, let me know if the problem is there. Possibly the browser is balking at the file path. |

Re: TFT Map Maker
Yay; that worked! Thanks.
I've launched into a megadungeon project that I'm doing in 'hex tile style' from the get-go, and I think your program will be the best way or me to do the drafting. |

Re: TFT Map Maker
Some bad news about the Annotation rotation situation (heh).
It turns out that the HTML5 Canvas handles text rotation in a really funky way. Basically, you rotate the entire canvas, draw the text, then unrotate it. While this is fine with something like a chart where you might have axis labels with simple rotation, the Shamat map is much more complex and the rotation operations quickly degrade performance. So it looks like this won't be a feature in the near future. Sorry about that. |

Re: TFT Map Maker
Could you have a secondary, off-screen canvas used only to rotate text blocks, then composite the result onto the map?

Re: TFT Map Maker
In theory, but it still makes a mess of the canvas rendering during normal mouse-move operations, because it's the Context that is rotated, and that handles all draw operations. There's probably a more elegant way to do it than my admittedly quick-and-dirty test.

Re: TFT Map Maker
New version of Shamat is out now. This adds buttons to randomly generate room-based and tunnel-based dungeons. The random map is created in the currently selected material, and there are options that let you tweak some of the map settings.
Please share any feedback that will help improve these new features! |
