Thank you very kindly. Looks to me like your group is the closest to us (we're near Waterloo). If we happened to be out your direction would it be feasible for us to stop by and play some?

Gauss Guns need POWER to work , so your Gas Engined Camper NEEDS a Laser Battery or similar ! :-) My design can fire ALL five GGs to the front arc - good for turn Medium Trikes to confetti !!!
I'll post it when I've found the notes - in the same price range though .

My response: Mangler -- Six gauss guns on a camper!

Camper; CA Frame; Extra Heavy chassis w/6 Tires (Dualies); Heavy Active suspension; 150 cid Engine w/Tubes, BP, VP Turbo, Overdrive, 5 gallon Duelling tank; 6 Solid tires. Driver. 3xGauss Gun w/10xStandard each linked F; Gauss Gun w/10 Standard and 1 Mag in 3s Turret; Gauss Gun w/10 Standard in 2s Sponson L; Gauss Gun w/10 Standard in 2s Sponson L; 2xFlame Cloud Discharger, L, R, linked. 4xSmart Link (All GG-F, Turret-L, Turret-R, Turret-R & L); Hi-Res Computer. 165 pts. Plastic (F: 35 R: 30 L: 30 B: 30 T: 30 U: 10); 2x10 pt. Plastic Hubs F; 2x10 pt. Plastic Guards B. Cost: $117,000, Wgt: 7,800, HC: 3, Top Speed: 60 (80), Accel: 10 (5).

The description of Laser Batteries says that they're necessary only for lasers and "power-draining electronics (radar, IR, etc)." I agree that it could be clearer, but I think Gauss Guns are exempted. If you disagree, replace the extra magazine with a laser battery in the turret.

One detail that would be nice to add to the game is how many electrical Power Factors gas engines produce. Maybe one for every hundred CID? One per thousand motive PF (three thousand Maximum Load for oversized engines)?

Mangler P: Same basic concept, but with better armor and a much lower cost.

Camper; CA Frame; Extra Heavy chassis w/6 Tires (Dualies); Heavy Active suspension; 150 cid Engine w/Tubes, BP, VP Turbo, Overdrive, 5 gallon Duelling tank; 6 Solid FP tires. Driver. Universal 3s Turret T; 2s Sponson R; 2s Sponson L. 3xRocket Launcher w/10xIncendiary each linked F; Infrared Targeting Laser and Rocket Launcher w/10 Incendiary, 1 Mag in 3s Turret T; Rocket Launcher w/10 Incendiary in 2s Sponson L; Rocket Launcher w/10 Incendiary in 2s Sponson L; Flame Cloud Discharger, L, R, linked. 4xSmart Link (All RL-F, Turret-L, Turret-R, Turret, L, R-B); Hi-Res Computer; Laser Guidance Link: 1 laser, 70 rockets. 199 pts. FP (F: 45 R: 36 L: 36 B: 36 T: 36 U: 10); 2x10 pt. FP Hubs F; 2x10 pt. FP Guards B. Cost: $90,740, Wgt: 7,796, HC: 3, Top Speed: 60 (80), Accel: 10 (5).

Note that the language under Laser Batteries suggests that Targeting Lasers require them for use with a gas engine, but they have no power requirement, and I think are explicitly exempted by a ruling in ADQ (CWRQ 4.6 exempts them as well).

Gauss Guns use 1/2 Power Unit per shot, which means you'd need a Laser Battery. (This is different from a Targeting Laser, whose description specifically says it doesn't drain the plant. Thus the ruling that kept changing throughout the life of the game.)

In case it matters, the Laser Battery description says they are placed with the engine, not in turret spaces. Turret magazines are typically internal as well, so you're probably not changing anything on that front.

Good point. The magazine actually went in the turret to save space.

GG's drain 1/2 power unit per shot , and even TL which drain NO power units still need as Laser Battery ( Pyramid 4 ) . State of The Art part 1 in ADQ 7/2 states that Gas Engines only have a small axillary 'Flywheel' to power the vehicle's basic electronics , FE's etc , and not much else .
Sorry to say but I don't think you can place a Laser Batt in a turret , as it says ( somewhere ) that it has to be adjacent to the Power Plant/Gas Engine .
