That makes sense, but wouldn't the same problem obtain? If more than one PC has the same Patron, how do you determine which PC's side is taken in a dispute?

By playing the Ally character as a(n NP) Character! Anything else is looking for a mechanical rubric to determine the outcome of what is fundamentally a role-playing issue.
