Re: April 1, 2018: Announcing Hall of Judgment for Dungeon Fantasy RPG!
Wow, this seems inspiring to me for some reason.
I don't know much about it yet, but it could have potential to be the adventure many people have been craving for for GURPS/Dungeon Fantasy. I think a good adventure needs to be somewhat iconic to get players into the theme of the game. It needs to have some serious elements where players can bring the characters they create into the world. It needs to inspire a setting that can be developed beyond the adventure proper. And it needs to be well presented and organized with an eye toward supporting the minutiae of getting the game to the table. Here's to hoping that Hall of Judgement provides several of these elements. A couple of questions: Will pre-made introductory characters be provided in the product? Was a special license arrangement needed between Steve Jackson Games and Doug Cole's Gaming Ballistics? Keep us posted on progress. Thanks. Last edited by Tom H.; 04-01-2018 at 12:36 AM. |

I was going to say that I could do with such news more often. Then I noticed the date...
Please let this be real!

But as I recall, they announced it as a clicky base minis game.

Quote:
(Further, I don't think this represents any real change in how GURPS and related products are handled. SJ Games has a history of reaching licensing agreements with trusted third parties. The fact that we haven't seen such works lately is, I think, simply a product of trusted third parties not approaching them. Doug is both a published GURPS author and someone who has successfully put out works of his own, so he's that rare entity at the intersection of trusted and interested, so good for him.) EDIT: Doug's publicizing this through his own channels. I think we can put hoax fears to rest.

If this is an April Fools' Day joke -- well played; I'm taken in and am setting aside money right now for this one.

I've also got my fingers crossed - please, don't let this one be a joke! I'm very, very keen on it. (Maybe the joke is that they're claiming to be releasing ONE such supplement, when actually Doug is planning to write TEN? And Kromm is going to GM a free session of each of the ten for all forum regulars? Ok, I think that's probably it. I hereby choose to believe it!)

Things missing for this to be an SJG April’s Fools joke:
1. A print version 2. A Dungeon Fantasy Last Gasp™ Quick-Start 3. A Dungeon Fantasy Deadly Spring™ Quick-Start This seems like too many missed opportunities to be fake. On the other hand, it’s *obviously* The Lost Halls of Tyr.

Re: April 1, 2018: Announcing Hall of Judgment for Dungeon Fantasy RPG!
I'm sure this is at least in part an April Fools' Day joke—why advertise wilderness rules when there's already DF16? (Yes, I know that's for the GURPS Dungeon Fantasy line, but that's the one that is being sustained.) However, the idea of a stripped-down Technical Grappling supplement for Dungeon Fantasy doesn't strike me at all as ridiculous, and quite possibly one of the items Kromm has been reviewing.
