Magic Resistance and casting spells with Enchanted items
M123 says you can put Magic Resistance on an item for a higher energy cost and that this doesn't affect spell-casting ability of its user.
M19 "Using Magic Items" says "Use the item’s Power as the caster’s base skill" Given that it's sort of like the enchanted item is casting the spell, should the inability to cast spells (B67) apply to the item's ability to let wielders cast its spells if Magic Resistance is put on it? If so, to get the +150% enhancement (Improved) would it be fair to do an "Enhanced Enchant" (T39: Adjustible Spells: Trading Energy for Enhancements)? Since it's 30*5%, it would be +30 energy and -30 to skill to do it? Last edited by Plane; 09-08-2019 at 03:19 PM. |

Re: Magic Resistance and casting spells with Enchanted items
I legit just asked this very question over in the DFRPG forum... if I'd have seen your post over here, I'd have probably not bothered...
In my opinion, it very much depends on whether or not your Power talent can affect the magic item's spell skill roll or not... if not, no, your MR shouldn't affect your casting of a spell from a magic item or scroll. If yes, then your "Anti-Talent" should very much interfere with your casting a spell from a magic item or scroll. |
