Page counts off?

A few threads list a page count (221 and 143) but I can only get to pages 220 and 142 of them.

Now I have an idea of what could be causing this, but I didn't think we had "block others from seeing our posts" as a feature here. Or am I wrong?

When they remove posts it messes up the page counts. (Spam and penalized users are the two likely culprits.)

Long standing bug. Not likely to get fixed unless SJG replaces its forum software (which is ancient, but would be a big chunk of work to replace. Or more likely convert to a hosted setup).

Usually a seriously messed up thread happens when a prolific poster gets banned with a "remove all posts from this person" option. As I understand it, this is a rarely used option, but it's happened, usually on folks who have long histories of being argumentative and/or threadjacking.

The one you mention -- page counts not matching the actual post count you can view. I remember asking about it myself long enough ago that I can't remember exactly when (and a couple of quick forum searches didn't tell me :)).

I think I figured out who it was. Or at least one of the 'whoms' it could be that's been erased from existence.

An update to this bug maybe?

Now this thread: in what part of reign of steel map do you live now?

The last post that is showing up for me is one from droid17 from back in 2011 ( 05-29-2011, 09:30 PM), theoretically the bottom of page 8.

The index page claims johndallman (Yesterday, 01:39 PM) and Boomerang (Today, 03:12 AM) have both posted to the thread since then, however neither post is visible, not can they be reached via the links on these pages:
