may choose not to fight, will not attack, will not persue

Do the rules change for monster cards when fleeing from combat that says "may choose not to fight", "will not attack", or "will not pursue"?

If I look for trouble, declare that I want to fight, buffs happen, and then I need to flee. can I just leave the combat for any of these without rolling or is this only for "will not pursue" monsters?
