Family car...
I think it's time to see some of the more "civil" vehicles. The kind of stuff EDSEL wouldn't object much to.
The Family Car. Requirements: 4 seats, plus 200 pounds groceries in one space, 200 mile range. 1 weapon. Fluff Text in car commercial mode. preferably, design spreadsheet in text, too. (If you use courier font, you can use underscores in place of blank spaces to pad out the SS Here's my first try _____ $ ___ Wt _ Sp _ Dp _ Notes _ $1600 __ 650 _ 10 __ 0 _ Compact CA Frame, 3700 max $13/6 armor _ -$320 _ -124 __ 0 __ 0 _ Light Chassis (-370 max) _ $1600 ____ 0 __ 0 __ 0 _ Std Suspension (HC2) ____ $0 __ 150 __ 2 __ 3 _ Driver ____ $0 __ 450 __ 3 __ 3 _ passengers x3 ____ $0 __ 200 __ 1 __ 0 _ Trunk cargo __ $850 __ 500 __ 3 __ 5 _ Small PP PCSC 920 PF (2760 max wt) __ $500 __ 144 __ 0 __ 3 _ 4 Radial Stds (+1 HC) _ $1000 __ 150 __ 1 __ 0 _ 1 space turret _ $1500 __ 200 __ 1 __ 3 _ MG (7•1d•20) __ $936 __ 432 __ 0 __ 0 _ Armor: 72 (All: 6) _ $7666 _ 2752 __ 0 __ 0 _ Total Proton - Compact, CA Fram, light chassis, std suspension, small power plant w/platinum catalysts and superconductors, 4 standard radials, driver, 3 passengers, MG in 1 space turret, 1 space cargo, Armor: F6 R6 L6 B6 T6 U6, accel 5, HC 3, Top Speed 95. Top speed drops to 92.5 with over 4 lbs cargo, maximum 208 lbs cargo in 1 space. The 2040 Zoomworks Proton, a car for the corporate warrior! Seating 4 in relative comfort, the proton mounts a turreted .50 cal for defense on the road. It's trunk carries over 200 pounds of cargo, and the armor will stop a machinegun†. And at $7665.99‡, it's still affordable to the average corporate worker! Head down to your local Zoomworks dealer today! |

I posted the above design a while back (Thank you, SJGames, for having a Search function) ... but seems to fit well within the parameters of this thread's topic. So I re-posted it. You might even include a possible 'upgrade' package ... For a mere $1000 more, add a link (VMG to MD) +$50, Upgrade all MD ammo to Napalm +$100, add Weapon Timer (MD; limiting number of shots when MD is placed on auto) +$350, and a SWC (VMG to one crew member of your choice, either Driver or Gunner) +$500. Re: Family car...
Here's my entry into the Family Car list:
Mid-sized, standard chassis, light suspension, medium electric with superconductors and platnium catalysts, 4 PR tires. Driver, 3 passengers. Turreted MG with 20 normal shots. Armor F25, B25, L25, R25, T 25, U10. 270 lbs, 4 spaces cargo. $7,760, 4800 lbs, 13 spaces. With all the extra cargo weight allowance, upgrading to HD ammo is a breeze. HTMs and targeting electronics aren't a bad idea either, but this is a commuter family car, and not a high-end duelling elite machine of death. For extra cost savings, swap out some plastic armor for metal when MG fire is all you can expect to face. |

Re: Family car...
Seek refuge, and security on the open highway. Travel in comfort and style at an affordable price. Get close to your partner and enjoy the ride. But , just in case someone wants to barge in on your highway cruise blow them away with your turreted Vulcan, and keep them off your tail with your rear mine dropper loaded with incendiary ammo, they will burn so fast they'll think they're in the underworld. For the family man there is also the Alto FE, just as secure but with comfortable seating for a family of 4 and no dropped solids that could lead to any fines. Only from Hot Rod Industries.
ALTO Station Wagon, Hvy Chassis, Large PP, Hvy Suspension, Driver, Gunner, 4 PR tires, VMG in turret w/incendiary ammo, MG front w/HD ammo, MD back w/incendiary ammo, 7 spaces and 150lbs for cargo, FP Armor F35 R25 L25 B30 T30 U15 ACC 5, HC 3, Top 90, 5900lbs., $19,250 FAMILY EDITION FE |
