Default New spell question

I'm trying to place a set of spells that normally I would call Ward vs X

The basic effect is similar to repel animals, but the animal college just doesn't seem appropriate to Vampires or other beings.

Pentagram protects against innately magical beings, but looking to place protection spells for beings that occupy the between areas.

If nothing else, they can go in Protection & Warning.

Wards for vampires and other undead would likely be found in Necromancy.

Mind Control is another choice. Compare with Avoid and Suggestion (M140)

If you want to ward mindless things, then Movement or Body Control might serve.

What's the in-setting "fluff text" for how the Wards supposedly work?

I am pretty satisfied with Repel Animal as far as the actual systematic. (X being can't enter, stay within without will check)

I'm just uncertain where in the other colleges to place them.

Looking for advice on: Vampires, Were (being), Faerie, Ghost, and any other mythological beings of folklore not explicitly a spirit or demon covered by pentagram I suppose.

Related question: Do humans count as a class of animal?

Generally not for Mind Control purposes, Magic seems to try to differentiate between sapients (humans, elves, dwarves etc.) and animals. IIRC the break-point is IQ 6.

Vampires and ghosts would certainly show up in Necromancy. Faeries I could see being affected by Mind Control (if they are just another kind of sapient) or possibly by Metamagic (if they are more or less personified magic) - but faeries are such a diverse bunch that it's hard to pin anything down. Were creatures might fit into Animal spells IF (and that's a big if) they lose their sapience during the transformation, otherwise it's Mind Control again.

Any of those would also fit into Protection & Warning, but that doesn't help much as usually you wouldn't have a chain of prerequisites that fits (mostly) into that college.

Note that there will be little incentive to use a set of different spells if Avoid and Pentagram are available. Even the former works on supernatural beings that are not immune to mind control and the latter is pretty all-purpose if a bit fiddly to use and expensive to set up on larger areas.

Protection from Evil/Good (and Order/Chaos for that matter) appear to be both Meta-Magic and Protection and Warning, so I would assume a Protection from Undead might be both Necromancy and Protection and Warning.
