Default Ways to get rid of too many Big Items

I'm considering adding a section about what to do with excess Big Items that you lose the ability to hold to my flowcharts and wanted to confirm a few things.

The rules for when you find yourself with too many Big Items are as follows:

Otherwise, you must give them to the lowest-Level player(s) who can carry them! If any Big items are still left over, discard them.
What other methods can be used to 'correct the problem immediately'? Of course, we can sell the item, as that's in the rules and MunchkinMan has ruled that we can also trade the item if someone is willing.

I'm fairly sure I've seen something to say that you aren't allowed to correct the problem by playing a replacement Dwarf card, or a Cheat! card, but can't find where I've seen it. Is this a correct understanding?

Is it allowable to discard the excess Big Item/s to power a Race/Class ability, such as Theft (if out of combat) or Berserking (if in combat)? It certainly has the effect of immediately correcting the problem, but if you can't play cards to correct it, then it's understandable if you can't trigger abilities either.

Finally, if you are in combat and lose your Dwarf race, you will need to discard all your excess items even if there are players who could carry them as you are in combat and can't give items to anybody, right?

That is NOT correct. Those are two very easy ways to correct the problem.

(I'm going to leave the rest of this for later, but wanted to correct this immediately.)

Assuming it's your turn, or just received the Dwarf card. I don't think we've ever said that Cheat! has any restrictions on when it can be played.

Thanks for correcting that. My memory obviously failed me.
