Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!
Of course, but there is little that a bank can offer someone who is making money at that rate. I think that the greater threat would be that others will make agreements with your stock broker (or someone else in his or her firm) to shadow your activity with their own investments, which would present uncontrolled variables into the forecasting model. That is probably why you have to stop at $2.7 billion, as you will have gotten large enough that your shadows start messing with your forecasting model.

Yes, your scheme for making it look like you're more than one person is decent, but I think I have some pointers for you. If you'll just include me on some of your investments, I'll make sure you look like a bunch of John Does who got lucky. I'll set it up so it looks like you got lucky in the plastics business, and no one has to know your real worth. And you know what? I'll show you around this new world of millionaires. They're a bunch of sharks, and you may be good in the trading room, but they'll run in circles around you on the social and political arenas. I'll look out for you. Introduce you to the right people. That sort of thing. You just have to include me on this deal. What do you say?" Yes, a cross time traveler doesn't exactly want ALL of that. But the guy offering doesn't know that, and at least some of the services offered are useful.

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!
Honestly it sounds like it might be a fun game to run if the investor is an NPC and the PCs take on roles as the majordomo and his/her expert crew.
Might be a way to get an unconventional bunch of experts into an infinity game. |

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!
One possibility occurs if the crosstime investor dies due to an accident and the PCs discover the computers (and notebooks with his accounts, passwords, plans, etc) when they are cleaning out his apartment when he does not pay his rent. What would a group of PCs from the early 1980s due with computers from the late 2030s?

Play minecraft. The real story/adventure will be when the NEXT set of cleanup-crew/investigators finds 4-6 bodies huddled around a super-advanced computer with obvious death by malnutrition and ignoring basic bodily needs. |

What about a computer with Saint's Row 7 and 100 TB of VR 16k animated porn instead?

Same 4-6 dead bodies from a mixture of malnutrition and ignoring basic needs, it just gets a bit more squicky about what state of undress you find them in and what there last few days activities were.

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!
Out Of Work Actors!
Sometimes the valuables are human resources. On a echo a few decades behind Homeline a group of famous actors has been suddenly left out of work due to a quirk of fate. A producer had a change of heart, that sales pitch didn't quite do it or the studio went under. Whatever the reason, a group of talented actors has been left in the lurch and a quick outtimer can take advantage of it. Funded by cheap outworld gold, an NPC or PC fan could jump in and become the director, making the episodes they'd always, funding those extra seasons or alternative episodes they always wanted to see made. All the while fending off locals trying to figure out where this money suddenly came from and other outtimers trying to interfere. If you can't find a world where someone did your favorite movie, play or TV show right why not do it yourself? PCs could be the director, ICops coming to shut them down, defending them from Centrum, or Centrum coming to infiltrate or natives looking for work.

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!
I've mentioned before on this thread the simple logic of buying a movie studio during some parallel or echo's Golden Age of Hollywood. If you find Preston Sturges unemployed, or more likely, underemployed. Give him free reign in a studio. Similarly, Orsen Wells and Buster Keaton, just given the chance, would have been so much more productive.
Help Mabel Normand kick her drug addiction, or Marie Dressler beat cancer. Feminists will adore your bringing them their new, to Homeline, films. One of Lovecraft's pals, Clark Ashton Smith sold scenarios to Hollywood in our world. Karloff wanted to make Dark Elidon, which Universal had bought the rights to. Make this happen. Get all of the three horsemen to Hollywood to make their best stuff into films in period. There's gold in those movie studios.

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!
Even more complicated for Homeline legal systems, there's gold in them *on their own timeline*. If I pop over and "just happen" to invest in a bunch of films that I knew were going to be big successes, convert my profits into something else and bring it home, do I own the rights owners on Homeline money? Why?
