Re: Minus vs dash symbol?
Damage of 2D would be expressed as I have written it. Numbers of Damage Dice should come with a "D" immediately after the number. Types of Damage (Cut, Imp, etc) after that are common and usually needed.

You're probably looking at the Weapons Table, in this (and every other case you see damage listed similarly) it's as so, using a ST 10 Character for example: "sw-2" means take the Character's normal swing damage expressed as "sw"; so this would be 1d-2. Take for example a bare-handed punch, that's thr-1 cr, which is "1d-2-1 cr", or more simply "1d-3 cr". And as Fred just mentioned the 'cr' would be crushing damage. |

Re: Minus vs dash symbol?
SJ Games is idiosyncratic in its use of mid-height horizontal lines:
- . . . A hyphen. We use it to join words (as in "mid-height" above), to break a word between syllables at the end of a line, to create number ranges (like "1-10") and to indicate relations (as in "Chinese-Russian discussions") where others might use an en dash, as a minus (as in "sw-2") where others might use a true minus, and as a separator where others might use a figure dash (as in a phone number like "867-5309").There are still others, but these are the most likely. Anyway, what matters is that SJ Games uses only the hyphen-minus on the keyboard for almost all of these purposes and more, and a spaced en dash where others might use a non-spaced em dash.
