Kappa: how to model the need for water in their heads?
Kappa are creatures from Japanese folklore. Among their traits is a need to keep a small pool of water in a dent (sara) in their heads. Spilling the water paralyzes the kappa.
How does one model that in GURPS? I mean, this is a monster race, basically, so points-value is a bit beside the point, but I got wondering. |

Paralyzed with mitigator: water on head. If they took damage or fatigue it would be a straight dependency. But as a mitigator it's like bad sight mitigator: glasses.

Sounds like maybe Nocturnal but with a different condition.

Re: Kappa: how to model the need for water in their heads?
Given how severe paralysis is and I not being able to think of a disadvantage that matches it I am thinking of mitigator on Decreased time rate.

Decreased Time Rate is clever, but I think Quadriplegic with a mitigator is a good fit. I am thinking "vulnerable" is about perfect (B112). I am using these guys as polite, dangerous (murderous) pranksters for a DF campaign w/ an eastern bent.

Forgot about that one, good call. You can call it paralized and cant move as a feature.

You might want to tack on cannot speak to avoid the comical black knight catcalls or Weseley's to the pain speech.

I'm actually pretty ok with my kappas being a little silly. They are such weird creatures, with their good manners and their head pools and their bone setting skills.
