I think having a weapon reach 2+ is very important.
His Parry is 19! (13 weapon base with Weapon Bond +3 large shield +3 when retreating)
Two attacks +17 per round (Rapid Strike, Weapon Master)!

He must indeed look very strange - very lightly armored, with a rapier but than carrying a LARGE shield :-)
Whats weapon bond? Isn't that supernatural or exotic?

Doesn't Large Shield give a penalty to Fencing weapons? Because fighting with a shield assumes the shield is in front, fencing weapons tend to have the whole parallel to the blade to have less area.

Just a word of caution with fencing weapons, a shield bash will break it. An off hand attack with a shield bash has no penalties (bec. its meant to be used by the off hand). 15lbs shield will have a +4 to break it (5+ times the weight of a rapier).

Second, a large shield is not that great when you fight in close combat (reach 1-2). Warriors with good DX and Wrestling can make a DX check to grab the shield and move to close combat. The shield then offers -3 to all defenses. Rapiers are not that helpfull at close combat (thats why the shortsword was very much favored with "sword and board" just in case opponents get smart).

It is just +3 to break since the Rapier is fine quality. But nontheless you are right, this is indeed dangrous. And even more if you use a large (22lbs) Shield. So try to avoid the reach of any shield bash. If he tries to Skrike at the Weapon (doesnīt have to come that close) the attack is at -3 and I could make a normal parry to avoid breaking the weapon.

Iīm sure of that. But as before, try to avoid close combat! The rapier guy is not the one for the in-fight, but the fast one!

I like the concept of speed and reach beeing superior to brute force. Reminds me a lot of the greek under Alexander - they conquered a huge territory with this tactic. And beyond that it is an excellent combination for formation fighting.

When I thought of Exotic and Supernatural I beared the definition of B.32 (Types of Advantages) in mind. Weapon Master is not marked as such.

Isn't this most important?

If I have a DX+25 [100] points in shortsword my feint or deceptive attack will beat the parry of anyone with much less and my parry will be unstoppable.

Does everyone use a limit like Rosignol?

So the title of the thread is Munchkins Ahead... can we get around the ban on exotic ("alien head") abilities by making our warrior non human? :D

Since the characters in my campaigns have mostly around 100-150CP in total I donīt have the quandary of spending too much points in just one skill.
