How does black coffee today compare to black coffee back then?

Because I've heard stuff like fast food restaurant coffees nowadays are actually pretty good.

Now if you mean they used percolators and burned the heck out the coffee, yes. Those heathens must be drug kicking and screaming into the 20 century of coffee brewing...
It is an idea for comic relief. It does not have to be true objectively. The point is that coffee was different back then and doing a little with that can be interesting.

Some are, some... aren't. There's this 'new' terrible fad of some places trying to emulate Starbucks nasty burned coffee taste.

I grew up in a fairly conservative area some decades ago and I suspect the coffee served in restaurants was pretty similar to the stuff brewed in War Two.

Think strong, bitter, slightly oily. US military coffee was famous for its strength, caffeine content, and high acid levels.

TL 8 habitues of designer coffee houses might have to make Fright or even Stun checks when confronted with the coffee of the era.

So basically if I'm time traveling I should take a Jerrycan of Coffeemate with me?
Could be a life-saver.

So, apart from coffee.

This is true. But simply say "you get a +1 bonus to hit per 5 ROF" and then your good to go.

I was just looking over the history skill and it doesn't mention wars as a specialization and I was wondering if History (WWII) was kosher. The skill does list eras combined with broad geographical regions as valid and I'd consider History (WWII) to be about as broad in scope as History (20th century Europe) which is explicitly said to be a valid use of the skill.

Major wars that shift history should, WW II and the Napoleonic Wars should both qualify, the U.S. Revolutionary War or the Boer War, likely not.

People were going on about coffee, so what is the big difference in how coffee is brewed now vs back then during WW2? I'm talking black coffee.

Wass it all done by hand back then for most people living in cities/suburbs or did they buy coffee beans/grains or whatever pre-packaged or what?
