Default Bards and Sound Jet

I noticed that Innate Attack (Beam) is not on the Bard template but the Bard in our group has Sound Jet and really wants to take that skill, which I am going to allow. Was this some sort of error? They happen, of course. I was just curious :)

You'd just take it with a quirk point.

In addition to a quirk point (as zuljita mentioned), your player could, with GM permission, pick it instead of one of the other six skill options on the bard template. From the beginning of the Skills chapter:

  • Spend bonus character points to add them in play.

Sound Jet, Rapid Fire, only with Lute, Guitar, or Mandolin.

Windmill Guitaring - the Townshend special

Perk: Skill Substitution (Innate Attack: Beam) to Musical Instrument is the most elegant solution, imo.

It's not in DFRPG however, so it's Not A Thing.

It could be, and for those GMs and Players without GURPS Basic, a Perk is a 1 point Advantage and you're only allowed so many of them (but there are so few in DFRPG you're not likely to hit that limit).

Penetrating Voice, Signature Gear, and Weapon Bond are Perks. In Eidoloclast's case I'd call it:

Windmill Guitar - It allows the use of a musical instrument skill to replace Innate Attack (Beam) for Sound Jet.
