Honestly, if dungeon crawling is your main joy and delight in the FRPG line, you need a world dedicated to producing that sort of thing or at least a willingness to not think about where they all came from.

There are plenty of games which feature such things from the Underworld of Tekumel to the abandoned refugees infested with chaos thing in EARTHDAWN.

I have run what are in effect dungeon crawls in my Yrth campaigns but they tended to be the exceptions to games which featured hunts for monsters, mysteries to be solved and destiny sticking its horrid nose into the affairs of the player characters.

Why does a dungeon crawl need to be underground? A "dungeon" in the RPG sense is simply a location with confined borders where you explore, kill things, and steal stuff. It can be a large castle, a prison, a space station, etc.

That's OK. That wasn't a claim I was making.

Then I am not sure that I understand at all. What are you saying?

I wasn't talking about Yrth but about the general idea of only using "real" religions even if it's a world like Yrth that has humans from some period on Earth.

My main reason for not liking Yrth as much as I could is the stronger focus on politics and lesser focus on dungeoneering than what I'd like.

I generally prefer Cidri from The Fantasy Trip, my main issue with that place being that the system didn't have support for healing spells (and with Cast from HP being the way spells were limited, there wouldn't be a good way to balance such spells anyway).

I don't like made-up religions unless they are almost blatantly based on some form of Christian cosmology, with perhaps the names and appearances changed (Aslan from Lewis, Eru Iluvatar from Tolkien, my own Crystal Dragon named in joking reference to the TVTropes page, whatever have you).

The minority races religion getting "glossed over" is understandable considering how much was covered in Banestorm.
We need those requests for Races fullfilled, but the adhering to Canoon and in the right order has I think slowed down progress on that front. Your main reward for writing is creativity and possibly writing credit or name recognition.
If your looking for money there are better ways for most.
If you want to express yourself then limiting creativity is a burdensome requirement (though understandable).
Name recognition might be good for the fist time but its hard to stay motivated for all that work if ego is all your after.

Yrh Martial Arts style did add some religious views though.
I have a cool one for Satrys and Centaurs but it would be pretty lean as a Pyramid article on flavor, mostly its about thier version of Powers as magic and some religious background.
