Looking for stats: Calico M960 SMG
Basically, the Calico M960 is a submachine gun/machine pistol with a 50- or 100-round helical feed on top of the gun, chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, with a 330mm/12.99 in barrel.
I can get weight, RoF, and damage (not sure if it's a 2d+2 or 3d-1, but I'm angling for the former at present) from real world stats. Rcl, ST, and Acc are trickier; I could probably eyeball it, but I'm not enough of a gun nut to be sure. Can someone help me out with the calculated stats? [EDIT] Seems the site I pointed y'all to has the wrong pic, which is what drew my attention. The gun I'm really looking for is the discontinued M950 (pictured) with a 152mm barrel, not the longer two-handed M960. Sorry. (The character I'm planning to give this to is going to dual-wield them.)

Re: Looking for stats: Calico M960 SMG
A 4-5.8 pound loaded weight puts it in the range of the TEC-9, so recoil 2 and ST 10. You’re in between the barrel length of the MP5 (3d-1) and the MP5K (2d+2). Given simple sights and the sight radius, I’d say accuracy 2.

From the link:
"The downside of the Calico submachine guns is that these weapons proved to be notoriously unreliable. The weapons tends to jam due to the feeding problems. The crops of the problem lie in its unique magazine. There was something fundamentally wrong about the cycling of the ammunition" That doesn't sound good! (and worth including in the write up) |

I’ve actually fired one. Malf 14 all day.

Re: Looking for stats: Calico M960 SMG
Note that all the Calico SMGs will jam before you have shot the 50 shots. Not "may jam", it is a "will jam" situation unless a special miracle happens. So a really low malf of maybe even 14 or so might be about right.
Edit: ninjaed by tanksoldier on the Malf. We seem to agree on the approximate number.. :) |

Re: Looking for stats: Calico M960 SMG
One other thing: the listed range I see for the M950 is 50 meters (call it 50 yards for simplicity, though probably closer to 55 yards), though the M960 claims 300 meters. Most 9x19mm Parabellum SMGs in High-Tech have a 1/2D range of 120 to 160. Should I use the listed range or handwave it to equal to one of the other SMGs in HT?

Re: Looking for stats: Calico M960 SMG
Most of the 9mm submachine guns are between 160 and 180 1/2D. The MP5SD is firing subsonic ammo so it’s range is shorter. The other outlier is the MAC Ingram-10, which has a very similar barrel length to your Calico. It and the Calico should be right in between the MP5A3 and the MP5K in 1/2D.

Re: Looking for stats: Calico M960 SMG
Thanks again, y'all. Here's what I've come up with, thanks to your input:
TL: 8 Damage: 2d+2 pi Acc: 2 Range: 100/1,000 Weight: 4/1.8 RoF: 12 Shots: 50 (13) ST: 10 Bulk: -4 Rcl: 2 Malf: 14 LC: 2 Notes: Weight and reload times are for the 50-round magazine, which needs to be wound 10 times before firing. With the 100-round mag, Weight is 5.8/3.6 (assuming my math converting kg to lb is correct), and Shots becomes 100 (26), needing to be wound 23 times before firing. With both magazines, a Fast-Draw (Ammo) roll will halve the reload time. (And that's probably cinematically generous.)

Re: Looking for stats: Calico M960 SMG
It has a longer barrel than the MP5K, so it should have at least 160 1/2D range. I haven’t seen 1/2D come up much so I guess it’s not a big deal. I would assume that you keep a reload wound up so that reloading is only 3 actions. A brief search didn’t tell me how long you can keep he magazines wound, but I did find out that over-winding a magazine means you have to disassemble it while capturing spring-propelled small parts. An IQ roll would be appropriate when winding under pressure.
