(Triplanetary) Plotting movements and ship tokens
This may be a ridiculous question but I’m asking anyway.
I was playing around with plotting courses while reading the “Standard Astrogation Conversations” section. Is it me or is it just annoying to keep picking up and putting down the tokens all the while trying not to smudge your markings. Anyone have a way they are doing it without making a giant smudge?

Re: Plotting movements and ship tokens
I'm using wet-erase markers on mine. They don't smudge at all with the counters. It's a little harder to make changes if you need to, so double-check before you mark. And make sure you use a damp paper towel to wipe down, not a wet one, otherwise it may bleed under the edges.

Hrm. All I can say is that the problem is not one I've seen, in a lot of play. Climate, perhaps?
If you are using wet-erase, they will probably be very blunt-tipped, even blunter than the ones that came with the set, and you may want to use tally marks on the side of the board rather than drawing numbers. Grease pencils (aka china markers) work, too. A bit more scrubbing to remove, and don't get the cruft into the creases if you can help it. Would you believe China said they could not supply us with grease pencils for the game? Potential china/china markers joke seen and bypassed. |

Re: (Triplanetary) Plotting movements and ship tokens
In our test game today, we just placed the token in a hex next to the current position (it was the race from Venus to Mars and the reverse).

Re: (Triplanetary) Plotting movements and ship tokens
The wet-erase markers were a little blunt, but mostly because I was borrowing them from my kids' chore chart/school stuff, so they are already well used. But even still they worked just fine, even with the turn numbers in the hexes. The only time it got to be a problem is when there were a bunch of ships passing through the same hex, but we still managed. If this turns into a regular thing I may go out and buy a dedicated set of markers for the game so we have better tips.

I will try wet erase to see what happens.
