Can Hirelings be stolen by thiefs?
When I read the rules it says some Hirelings are considered items, the one with a gold value.
1. So can a thief steal a hireling if it is an item? 2. For hirelings with no gold pieces, the thief class can't steal it right? 3. The thief class can not steal Steeds because it is considered a big item, correct? thank you! |

Re: Can Hirelings be stolen by thiefs?
1. If a hireling is an item it follows all the rules items follow, so it would be vulnerable to theft from a Thief as long as it isn't big.
2. Correct 3. Yes |

Re: Can Hirelings be stolen by thiefs?
And as an added note, there are very few Hirelings that are Items. The Budget Steed is the only Hireling which is also an Item from the Fantasy sets.
And there are exceptions for Steeds too, as only those with Big on their cards are actually Big. The Horse Shoes can be used as a Steed, but they are not Big and can be stolen. I believe many of the Vehicles from Munchkin Impossible are also not Big, so any of those Small ones can be stolen too in a blended game. |

No, you targer a non-Big Item. You have to declare the specific Item you're trying to steal before rolling.

Re: Can Hirelings be stolen by thiefs?
says on worlfofmunchkins that
Q. If I'm a Thief, and I steal an Item from another munchkin, is that the same as if he was giving me the Item? A. No, you munchkin. Giving is voluntary. The key difference is that the giver gets to choose what card to give you. says the giver gets to choose so i was thinking its target player and not the item. |

Re: Can Hirelings be stolen by thiefs?
You're reading that entry exactly backward. Stealing is NOT giving, and the person being stolen from can't choose which Item is stolen.

Quote:
The entry specifically says they are two different things: if you are a Thief, the target is not giving you an Item. If he is giving you an Item, he is the giver, and so you are not stealing.
