Default Twenty Prootwaddles

Twenty Prootwaddles march past a nine dice to spot hidden door.

Each one has a 5.96% chance of rolling 23 or less on nine dice. Therefore there is a 70.74% chance that at least one of them will spot it. (Train them by hiding food behind hidden doors.)

I wouldn't roll for them unless they were actively searching for it, and even then it would be just one roll for the group. If you apply automatic success so liberally then 20 prootwaddles have a 6% chance of doing absolutely anything.

Yes, rules get weird on the edge cases. But since they are edge cases they should seldom if ever come up. Unless the GM is willing to improvise to maintain their desired level of realism, we're going to wind up with a fantasy version of Advanced Squad Leader, and I expect that wouldn't be a commercially viable product.
