That's not really a legal play. If you're not directly affecting the combat, it's over. You can't just keep passing the Munchkinomicon around in the desperate hope that you'll maybe possibly get something to stop them. The 2.6 second rule when winning only applies for stopping them from winning. If you don't have a card to do that, then you can't stop them, and it certainly doesn't reset the counter for reasonable time.
