That looks pretty promising to me. I've played a very successful campaign for over a decade where most characters had magic-as-powers, and the only one who didn't had Path/Book with Hermetic modifiers. The analogy is pretty obvious, and fairly close.

The Directions and Associations in the Bagua table look usable in place of hermetic modifiers, but it's less obvious how to use the elemental modifiers for elemental workings, since there are quite a lot of them.

You may find yourself having the equivalent of "the hermetic five minutes" while the player and GM work through the modifiers for something difficult, and the rest of the players refresh their drinks, but it speeds up with practice.

For what it's worth, Chinese Elemental Powers more than adequately scratches my “Chinese Elements” itch, and I've been thinking of not bothering with the Elemental Magic Modifiers if they become too much of a hassle.
