Range Limitation error in Characters ?

Hi everyone,

I was looking at the Dai Blacktorn character creation example in the GURPS : Characters book and in the advantages section, it states that since his teleport ability is very limited (10 yards) he can get a 50% discount for it. Isn't the Limited Range limitation only available in 3 levels (max -30%) ? Is that an error ?

I'm checking because I wanted to convert DnD 3rd editon characters to GURPS in the past and since in DnD Darkvision has a range limitation (ex. : 30ft, 60ft or 120ft) I tought that it could only get them a maximum of 30% discount on Darkvision. It is said in Campaigns (i think in Sense Rolls section) that vision is normally limited by the horizon (which is approx. 3 miles if I remember). Does this mean I could give characters with Darkvision (limited range 10yards) more than 30% discount ? Anyone ?

His range limit on warp is listed under warp. Look there for warp specific range limitations instead of using the generic one.

You need to check out specific advantages - many of them override the "generic" enhancements/limitations with specific versions that are more fair for that given advantages mechanics.

In this case, there is a special Reduced Range limitation for Warp that Dai is using. So, no, you can't technically use it for Dark Vision. However, if using Reduced Range on Dark Vision, I'd take the horizon as approximately 3 milesish and base the math from there.
