Default The Chapel and "cannot be used"

Got to play the game for the first time last night, and really enjoyed it. However, I did encounter one interesting quirk of the Chapel's wording.

It says that Monstrous Items cannot be used in the Room. As Items you can't use must go into your pack, does that mean that I have to immediately pack any Monstrous Items I have upon entering the Room (after combat), and potentially be forced to drop some Items if there isn't room in the pack?

I realise that I might be taking the wording too literally, but it seems that I must do it according to the rules.

Then again, I guess I can treat it like Cheat (which wouldn't work to allow you to use a Monstrous Item in this room if I understand other rulings correctly) as it is an external condition that is making the Items unusable. Thus, I wouldn't need to pack those Items in the room, just to ignore their effects. Is this the correct way to handle the Room?

Ignore the Monstrous items, but you don't have to pack them or drop them.
