Roll Playing in CW
I have a few of the old editions of Car War, and I always like the Roll playing aspect of the world.
I haven't had a chance to look closely but does 6th edition have a RP aspect to it? Also is anyone RPing at all in the Car Wars setting? |

Re: Roll Playing in CW
The short answer is no. The game is about driving cars fast and blowing them up. Some sort of campaign-oriented material has been mentioned as a future possibility if the game does well enough. But right now it's just a tactical combat game with cars and shooting.

Re: Roll Playing in CW
CW6 is only 'cars with guns.' They said the background is very light. Campaigns, continuing characters, etc aren't covered at all, as far as I know. So roleplay with have to be homebrewed for now. Think of it as the pocket box with minis, modern rules & presentation. Continuing characters didn't have rules until Truck Stop came out

The over-under on "homebrew RPG for 6th Edition" is "about 4 minutes".... ;)

Re: Roll Playing in CW
Yeah, but it has not been updated to 4e. Turns out I missed the 2nd Edition, but now that 6e is on the cusp, it no longer feels canonical without a 4e update.

Re: Roll Playing in CW
GURPS 4e doesn't have a vehicle design book, but really the difference between the two versions of GURPS Autoduel is more in the vehicle and character details than the setting. The chronology in the first edition goes up to 2036 and in the second edition, aka GURPS Classic: Autoduel the chronology goes up to 2045.
You should be able to get a lot of mileage out of the plot material in GURPS Autoduel, regardless of which edition of the book you have. Warehouse 23 links below if you want the digital version of either book: http://www.warehouse23.com/products/...-first-edition http://www.warehouse23.com/products/...assic-autoduel

Re: Roll Playing in CW
True -- but I was thinking in terms of "How long is it going to take some lunat^H^H^H^H^Hgenius to figure out how to make an RPG using only what's in the _CW6_ packaging".... :)
